Our weekly report of the rain and the level of the Kineret.
As of April 11 (1 Iyar) 515 millimeters of rain had fallen in the Jerusalem area during the current season (August 1 to date). This represents 98% of the average rainfall for this period and 96% of the average rainfall for the entire season in the Jerusalem area which is 537 mm.
In most places in Israel the rainfall so far has exceeded the average for this period so far, in many places by more than double. Haifa has already received 125% of the amount of rain it usually gets in a whole season. Many other locations in the north got more than their average share already.
The current level of the Kinneret is -209.95 meters below sea level, a fall of 0.005 meters in the last week, which is more than three meters above the lower red line of -213 meters. It is still more than a meter from the upper red line of -208.8 meters, but it is expected to rise more due to inflow of rain already fallen and snowmelt. It is now 1.15 meters below the upper red line. Last week we saw the Kinneret and it looked pretty full.
