Demonstrations which erupted recently throughout England
following the murder of a soldier in London led to an anti-
Semitic attack against Jews. This severe incident took place
this past Shabbos parshas Behaalosecha when two avreichim
taking a Shabbos afternoon walk in the center of Gateshead
were brutally attacked by a group of teenagers demonstrating
against the spreading of Moslems in the area.
The two avreichim, who were walking innocently along through
the area of the demonstration, tried to slip away once they
realized where they were, but were suddenly attacked very
brutally by a group of eight youths who beat them in full
view of hundreds of demonstrators.
The attackers hurled insults against Jews, accusing them of
everything possible. One avreich was beaten severely, while
the other managed to flee and summon help from passersby.
The police patrolling the area were called to the scene and
succeeded in arresting some of the attackers for
interrogation.
Another anti-Semitic incitement was reported in a report of
the savage attack on the British soldier in one of the media
which complained about the taking over of England by Moslems
and Jews. The article reeked of anti-Semitism and
xenophobia.
