A special meeting at the home of HaRav Chaim Kanievsky
featured the attendance of prominent roshei yeshiva and
marbitzei Torah to encourage the efforts of the
Betzavta organization that arranges for private mentors
and tutors for yeshiva students.
HaRav Aharon Tausig said that at their gathering were
the voices of thousands of young talmidim who want to
grow in Torah and yirah, and who ask to be given the
tools and the ladder with which to rise up. He recalled
the psak of HaRav Moshe Feinstein zt"l that people
should give a tenth of their time to learn with others
who need help. HaRav Gershon Edelstein said that
Betzavta needs to be expanded and that it can help to
produce generations of talmidei chachomim and yirei
Shomayim. HaRav Chizkiyohu Mishkovsky, the mashgiach of
Orchos Torah, praised the idea of an individual
ram and said that the roshei yeshivos and
mashgichim should encourage any bochur who needs it to
seek help.
Also speaking were HaRav Zelig Braverman, the rosh
yeshiva of Ruzhin, and HaRav Moshe Hillel Hirsch, the
rosh yeshiva of Slobodka. Many other prominent roshei
yeshiva were also in attendance.
