Registration for "Achuzat Netiv" on Har Yonah

By Y. Sheinfeld

There is never a quiet day in the sales offices of the Achuzat Netiv housing project on Har Yonah. Heads of organized groups representing quality members are seeking to get information on the possibilities of buying and settling in this upcoming project. Many contracts have already been signed with bnei Torah buyers and a high-quality public. The registration recently took an upswing, thanks to the support extended by Torah leadership, especially HaRav Yaakov Edelstein, to this venture.

An additional element is the imminent availability of apartments. In Achuzat Netiv, the foundations have already been poured for the buildings in the first stage of the neighborhood. Construction began after the company completed all the bureaucratic procedures in record time, and only a few months ago, the formal cornerstone laying ceremony took place, presided over by gedolei Yisroel and a large number of noted public figures.

For the buyers, this is good, tangible news. Completed apartments will be ready for occupancy in only two years. Compared to other housing projects, this is half the time of the usual four year waiting period for occupancy. In financial terms, an additional two years of paying rent adds on another 60,000 shekel to the initial cost of the apartment.

The progress of construction has stirred up increased interest in the project and in these past few weeks, the sales office have been filled with families and newlyweds investigating the possibilities of purchase. These have received full details on the prices, and the grants for which they are respectively eligible. Many people have, in fact, already signed purchase contracts.

Har Yonah promises to become a new, in fact, perhaps the largest, chareidi center in the North. For the first stage, hundreds of housing units will be built, of which 3,000 additional ones are scheduled to be awarded soon in a legal tender. This is in addition to land resources available for another 18,000 units, which would transform Har Yonah to the third chareidi city in size after Jerusalem and Bnei Brak. For comparison's sake, Kiryat Sefer currently has 7,5000 housing units and Beitar, 7,000 units.
