by Dei'ah Vedibur Staff
As of January 16 (5 Shvat) 387 millimeters of rain had fallen in the Jerusalem area during the current season (August 1 to date). This represents 165% of the average rainfall for this period and 72% of the average rainfall for the entire season in the Jerusalem area which is 537 mm.
In most places in Israel the rainfall so far has exceeded the average for this period so far, in many places by more than double. Haifa has already received 105% of the amount of rain it usually gets in a whole season.
The current level of the Kinneret is -210.99 meters, which is more than two meters above the lower red line of -213 meters. It is still a long way from the upper red line of -208.8 meters, but it is expected to rise more due to inflow of rain already fallen and snowmelt.
