Meeting of Kollel Heads and the Establishment of a Special Beis Din to Prevent Technological Damages

By Yechiel Sever

The meeting of the heads of kollelim in Israel to fortify and reinforce the sanctity and purity of the Jewish home took place this past Sunday in the home of HaRav Chaim Kanievsky, headed by the foremost figures, HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman, HaRav Nissim Karelitz and HaRav Chaim Kanievsky. It was attended by the heads of kollelim and rabbonim who discussed ways of reinforcing the sanctity of our camp and announced the establishment of a special beis din, as well as a decision to combat within kollelim the Internet and forbidden cellphones that have access to Internet.

The members of Beis Din for the Fight Against Technological Harm spoke about the need to maintain a rigid vigil and advised how to go about it. HaRav Ezriel Auerbach, HaRav Sariel Rosenberg, HaRav Meir Kessler, HaRav Shlomo Zafrani and HaRav Yisroel Goelman, together with roshei yeshivos HaRav Dovid Cohen, HaRav Aviezer Piltz and HaRav Yigal Rosen.

The meeting was opened by HaRav Chaim Feinstein, Rosh Yeshivas Beis Yehuda, who said that "This gathering represents exactly what is explained by Chazal: A gathering of tzaddikim is beneficial to them and beneficial to the world. This is especially true when the meeting comes to erect safeguards for the sanctity of the Jewish people lest there be a breach in their protective walls. It has also been explained that there is a intense obligation to fight the battle of Hashem and erect safeguards of sanctity. Even though Moshe Rabbenu fought against idolatry to the degree that he said: Kill you one another of those worshiping Baal Pe'or, a battle against idolatry, Hashem's wrath was not withdrawn until Pinchos rose up zealously to defend His honor and fought the battle for sanctity, as is testified: Pinchos ben Elozor withdrew My wrath from the Children of Israel when he defended My honor with zeal in their midst."
