"I Will Not Budge an Inch from the Prevailing Tradition"
By Yechiel Sever
"The Jewish people both in Israel and the diaspora express disgust over the recent demands and provocations in attempting to strike a blow to the sanctity of the Kosel. I will fight with my whole body and soul to prevent any change in the status of the holiness of the Kosel and other holy sites," declared Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, rov of religious sites, as a reaction to the recent illegal provocation and incitement taking place at the area of the Kosel by a group calling themselves "The Women of the Wall." They come to this holy place enveloped in taleisim, demanding to be allowed to read from the Torah and transgress all other kinds of violations of Halacha and ancient custom, all with aim of creating cheap populism and gaining publicity while profaning the Torah and the holiest place of the Jewish people. They demand that a special area be set aside for their worship at the Kosel according to Conservative and Reform practice of mixed prayer.
