Agudas Yisroel's 12th Yarchei Kallah in Yerushalayim: A Live Report

For the past week they have been bnei yeshiva, fully engrossed in the sugya d'kallah. Sounds like a dream? Well, it's a reality for a few hundred professionals, mostly from America and Canada, some from Europe and Eretz Yisroel, who have come together at the Ramada Hotel in Yerushalayim to turn its central ballroom into a beis medrash. This is the 12th year that Agudas Yisroel of America's Torah Projects Commission is arranging a Yarchei Kallah.


MK Gafni: Conduct Inspections at All Gov't-Funded Organizations

Finance Committee Chairman MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni took Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz to task for the recent cooperation between the ministry's General Accounting Department and the Education's Ministry Institutions Department, in conducing denigrating inspections at Torah institutions.


MK Gafni Demands Traditional, One-Tiered Burial

Knesset Finance Ministry Chairman MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni sent a piercing letter last week to Religious Services Minister MK Yaakov Margi of Shas following a plan he is advancing through his ministry to enable burial in tiers and vaults throughout Eretz Yisroel, with no option for open space burial (kvuras sodeh) in accordance with halacha and the current practice.


Government to Approve 5-Year Renewal of Deferment Law

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced during a meeting this week of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee that the government plans to approve, during next Sunday's cabinet meeting, another five-year extension of the law providing for IDF deferments for full-time yeshiva students and avreichim. However on Wednesday Netanyahu announced that he would first discuss the bill with each of his coalition partners.


Molotov Cocktail Thrown at New Jersey Shul

For the fourth time in one month a serious antisemitic attack took place in Bergen County, New Jersey when unidentified vandals hurled fire bombs at 4:30 a.m. into an Orthodox shul in Rutherford and one caught fire in the sleeping quarters of the rov of Congregation Beth El.


HaRav Kanievsky Backs Har Yonah Project in Natzeret Illit

HaRav Chaim Kanievsky shlita has joined HaRav Yosef Sholom Eliashiv and HaRav Yehuda Leib Shteinman shlita in giving his blessings to the Har Yonah residential project in Natzeret Illit, which is slated to establish a Torah community in the North that will alleviate the financial strain on kollel families as a result of the acute housing shortage.

The gaon Rabbi Moshe was born in the city of Brezve in 5567 (1807). His father's name was HaRav Yosef.
