Last week in Tel Tzion, a community outside Jerusalem, the second-
phase building of the Beis Yaakov school was inaugurated. Construction
work on the 16-classroom wing was completed recently.
On hand for the chanukas habayis and the mezuzah posting
ceremony were local rabbonim, including HaRav Avrohom Goldberg, the
rov of Kehillas Avi Ezri, and HaRav Sar Shalom Nachmani, Local Council
Head Avi Roeh and his depuy, Mr. Motti Yugav, Tel Tzion Committee
Chairman David Azoulai and Director Roni Ben Chamo, along with other
notable figures.
The event was part of a tour by Mr. Yigal Tzarfati, director of the
Education Ministry's Development Administration. He commented on the
atmosphere at the school, where nearly 500 girls are enrolled. It is
the only school in the community and all of the girls study together
in harmony, even though their ethnic backgrounds are varied.
Principal Rabbi Yosef Shapira noted how quickly the construction work
was completed, while maintaining very high quality standards, and
thanked Mr. Yigal Tzarfati and the heads of the Binyamin Council and
the Tel Tzion Community Council for their good will and generosity.
This has been the second building to open its doors within the past
two months after the building for the cheder was completed just
before the new school year began.
The new school building will house a number of classrooms and language
development preschools, and next year the new seminary is slated to
open for this year's eighth-grade graduates. The decision to open a
seminary was reached by the Tel Tzion administration in conjunction
with the Beis Yaakov administration, with the support of the local
rabbonim, due to increasing demand from parents.
Community Council Chairman Rabbi David Azoulai said in just two weeks
most of the girls enrolled at the school, and there has been more and
more demand among chareidi parents in nearby communities.
"This points to the unity in the community and the great success
besiyata deShmaya of our educational institutions," said
Azoulai.
