Deputy Speaker of the Knesset MK Rabbi Uri Maklev was selected by the Israel Democracy Institute as one of three members of Knesset cited for excellence. The selection committee, headed by Theodore Or, a retired High Court vice president, approved the selection after reviewing both the quantitative and substantive data gathered by IDI researchers, in addition to other criteria, such as the candidates' contribution to promoting laws, ties with the public and the degree of responsibility they showed in budget matters.
The Outstanding Parliamentarian Prize was awarded to MK Rabbi Uri Maklev last week. The other two recipients were MK Dov Henin (Chadash) and MK Zevulun Orlev (Habayit Hayehudi).
According to Open-Knesset figures, Rabbi Maklev is one of the Knesset's leading figures in every area. Since the start of the current term, he has submitted 119 bills, of which 10 were granted final approval. Another 47 were approved in preliminary readings or first readings and are now being prepared for second and third readings. He is also second place in the Knesset in Knesset work hours, with an average of 32.5 hours per week.
