Beit Shemesh Mayor Hosts Canadian Ambassador

By L.S. Wasserman

"The accelerated development taking place in Beit Shemesh is a challenge for the world's developing cities," said Paul Hunt, Canada's ambassador to Israel, during a visit to the city hosted by Mayor Rabbi Moshe Abutbol.

The ambassador began his visit at the Mayor's Office, where Rabbi Abutbol provided a comprehensive survey of the impressive development record in Beit Shemesh, Israel's fastest growing city, and the massive development of various municipal and projects and institutions within the city as well as new access roads leading in.

Taking part in the meeting was a large contingent representing immigrants from Canada living in Ramat Beit Shemesh and in the city's new neighborhoods. Twenty-five percent of city residents are immigrants, including a sizable community from Canada.
