In response to passengers' complaints to the Rabbinical Committee for
Transportation Matters regarding unseemly movies on international
flights to and from Eretz Yisroel, the committee said that flights to
many destinations around the world are available on airlines that
offer excellent service and show consideration for their passengers.
Some of these flights have stopovers in Europe.
The campaign against inappropriate and lewd films on flights has been
waged for years. According to the complaint, even passengers who do
not keep Torah and mitzvas sometimes ask that the films on the screen
be stopped, but flight attendants refuse to honor their request.
The Rabbinical Committee for Transportation Matters and Temicha Lelo
Seratim, an organization for film-free flights, conducted a
comprehensive inquiry and found that travelers can fly to Europe, the
US and other destinations on carriers that do not screen films. Many
passengers who followed Temicha Lelo Seratim recommendations said they
felt relieved at not having to be exposed to movies, and noted that
the flight crew provided excellent service.
The organization also provides specially designed folding barriers
that allow passengers on flights with films to keep them out of sight.
They offer various designs to accommodate both cabins with a large
screen or small personal screens. For guidance and to order a barrier,
call 057-315-5613 (from outside Israel, dial +972-57-315-5613).
The Rabbinical Committee for Transportation Matters strives to update
its data on all kosher flights and is asking travelers who would like
to either receive or share up-to-date information to call 057-311-
9088, 057-318-5350 or 057-315-5613.
