Chareidi Cities Awarded Good Management Prize
By L.S. Wasserman
At a ceremony held at the Jerusalem International Convention Center,
the Interior Ministry gave out awards and certificates of recognition
to 92 of Israel's 255 cities and local councils for proper
administration. Among the prize winners were chareidi mayors Rabbi
Yaakov Guterman, mayor of Modi'in Illit, and Rabbi Moshe Abutbol,
mayor of Beit Shemesh, along with Rabbi Avrohom Rosenthal, head of the
Kiryat Yearim (Telzstone) local council and Rabbi Dan Cohen, head of
the Rechasim local council.
Prizes for proper administration were awarded to local governments
that met high standards for budget management. The awards were given
out in the past and have now been renewed for a second year by
Interior Minister Eli Yishai.
