Yearly Gathering of Lev L'Achim

By Yechiel Sever

The annual gathering of Lev L'Achim took place on Monday 28 Nisan in Bnei Brak. Maranan verabonon gedolei Yisroel, roshei yeshivos and rabbonim came together to strengthen the holy work of Lev L'Achim in education and kiruv, emphasizing that everything is done under the direction of rabbonim.

For the first time this year the first part was limited to Lev L'Achim activists and closed to the general public. More than a thousand avreichim participated in this part, in which they discussed tips for more effective action and received encouragement and chizuk for their holy work.

Two broad subjects were discussed at this stage: different aspects of the personal hashkofoh and behavior of those involved in kiruv and education, including rules for how to approach learning with others and tips on how to use the experience for personal growth.

The second part included discussions and interviews with four success stories, avreichim who entered the Torah world through the activities of Lev L'Achim. This part was led by Rabbi Uri Zohar, and included one avreich who participated in the Chavrusa program, one who was registered for Torah education, a third who studied in a special institution for youths and a fourth who started in the kiruv oriented evening kollelim. In response to questions from the floor they helped the activists understand what they went through.

There was also a parallel meeting for women which was about the same size.

Following this part was a general meeting, open to all, with the participation of gedolei Yisroel shlita.
