Emmanuel Prisoners Released Without Yielding to High Court

Following a court hearing on Sunday, 15 Tammuz, a decision was made to release the Emmanuel prisoners without requiring them to compromise their position in any way, upholding their original demands in the arrangement made based on the stance of gedolei Yisroel shlita.


Knesset Finance Committee to Rewrite Guaranteed Income Criteria

After the High Court ruled the present Guaranteed Income criteria are unlawful because they do not treat university students equally, the Knesset Finance Committee has begun holding meetings to redraft the criteria to ensure that avreichim remain eligible. The court said new arrangements should be formulated for the 2011 budget year.


Eruv Sabotage in South Jerusalem Ratcheted Up

Hundreds of thousands of south Jerusalem residents were left without a proper eruv following the latest act of sabotage in an ongoing series of attacks against eruv poles. The relentless strikes have been taking place for several years, and in the recent incident dozens of poles were uprooted to the southwest of the city, using bulldozers stolen from the site after razing the poles' foundations.

Several years ago, during construction work on an emergency room at Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon that would provide protection against rocket attacks, ancient graves were discovered at the work site.


Levaya in Paris for Seven Charred Sifrei Torah
