MK Rabbi Gafni: 'We're Not About to Change Our Way of Life'

"I don't know where the entire orchestrated attack on the chareidi public is headed, but we're not about to change our way of life," MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni declared before the Knesset plenum during a speech he gave during the debate on a no-confidence motion. The remarks came in response to various assaults journalists and public figures recently launched against the chareidi sector.

Report Shows 61% of Jerusalem's Jewish Students from Chareidi Sector

Enrollment in Jerusalem's chareidi education system continues to rise according to figures published by the Jerusalem Institute for Israel Studies, which shows that 61 percent of the capital's Jewish students hail from the chareidi sector.

Antisemites Spray Tear Gas on Jew Leaving Shul

Three youths wearing Che Guevara t-shirts sprayed tear gas on a Jew stepping out of a shul in the city of Nimes in the south of France. Raul Sadon came across the threesome following Mincha on Sunday as they were spray-painting swastikas and antisemitic graffiti on the wall of the synagogue. Other congregants found him lying on the sidewalk and saw the three youths slowly drawing away.

Hundreds of talmidim from Eretz Yisroel and abroad joined Jerusalem residents mourning the loss of HaRav David Ovadia, one of Morocco's leading rabbonim, who held aloft the banner of Yiddishkeit for decades.


HaRav Yaakov Rosenthal zt"l

Headed by roshei yeshivos, roshei kollelim, dayanim and rabbonim, a large crowd was on hand Sunday to lay to rest HaRav Yaakov Rosenthal zt"l, av beis din of Haifa and rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas HaGra for decades. He passed away on Shabbos Parshas Emor at the age of 86 after being bedridden for a number of months.


HaRav Ephraim Reuven Zureivin zt"l

Thousands were on hand to take part in the funeral for HaRav Ephraim Reuven Zureivin zt"l, a talmid muvhok of HaRav Aharon Kotler zt"l who passed on many of his rebbe's teachings to subsequent generations. He once said that he felt that his main purpose in the world was to prepare the Torah works of HaRav Aharon Kotler for publication.
