ZAKA Volunteers Found Mumbai Attack Victims Holding Blood-
Soaked Sifrei Kodesh

Last Thursday afternoon, a short time after the terrorist
attack in Mumbai began, six ZAKA volunteers traveled to the a
site near the city's Chabad House, accompanied by the parents
of Rivka Holtzberg Hy"d. Unable to gather much
information about their daughter and son-in-law, the parents
flew to Istanbul on a private plane.
Historic Motzei Shabbos Agudah Convention Session Electrifies
Packed Hall

The Agudah convention's Motzei Shabbos session held the
attention of the more than 1000 people in attendance. As
people filed out of the large hall at the Stamford Hilton
after midnight, "historic" was just one of the comments
heard, but it captured the gist of all the others.
Secular Coalition Formed at Jerusalem City Council

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat formed a preliminary coalition
among city council members, allowing him to assume his post
this week. The coalition's first work meeting dealt with
preparing to enter the city council and getting to know the
various parties on the council.
3.5 Years Behind Bars for Desecrating Sifrei Kodesh and
Torching Sukkah

The Haifa District Court sentenced a 20-year-old resident to
three-and-a-half years in prison and a one-year deferred
sentence for torching a succah alongside a beis
knesses, destroying sifrei kodesh and spray-
painting graffiti. The accused confessed to six counts of
assault and destruction of property.

Headed by roshei yeshivos, rabbonim and dayanim, thousands
took part in the funeral for HaRav Zion Levy zt"l, the
rov of the Jewish community of Panama, who passed away at the
age of 85 following a short illness.

Jean David Levitte, the diplomatic advisor to President
Nicolas Sarkozy at the Elysee Palace, was suddenly discovered
to be a Jew whose father ran a Jewish orphanage in a remote
French village under the Nazi occupation.
Salvadoran Government Awarded Certificate for Saving Jews
During Holocaust

appreciation to her counterpart in El Salvador, Marisol
Argueta de Barrillas, for her country's actions to save
Jewish lives during the Holocaust.
