By Yechiel Sever
Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat formed a preliminary coalition
among city council members, allowing him to assume his post
this week. The coalition's first work meeting dealt with

parties, forming a majority of the 31 councilmen. Five
coalition members will be appointed deputy mayor.
"In the coming days I will continue efforts to expand the
coalition, making it wall-to-wall, reflecting all of the
parties elected to serve on the city council," said
Barkat.
The coalition includes Barkat's party, Yerushalayim
Tatzliach, NRP-Habayit Hayehudi, led by David Hadri, Meretz,
led by Papa Alalo, Hitorerut, led by Ofer Berkovich,
