Maran HaRav Eliashiv and the Rosh Yeshiva HaRav Shteinman
Urge Voters to Go to Polls and Support UTJ
"Every yirei Hashem should do all he can to increase
the honor of Heaven by strengthening the UTJ-Gimmel list,"
reads a letter written by Maran HaRav Eliashiv in advance of
next week's Knesset elections. "And whoever shirks this
obligation lends a hand to those who seek to uproot
everything."
The "chareidi" candidate representing the secular party
Yisrael Beiteinu openly declared that his party would require
the chareidi sector to do national service in lieu of
military duty under the slogan, "No loyalty, no
citizenship."
Religious matters in Eretz Hakodesh are imperiled and neglect
is widespread and adversaries have risen up to undermine
every matter. As is well known, the United Torah Judaism list
stanches the breach and its representatives are sent to
thwart the decrees and schemes.
In the aftermath of International Holocaust Remembrance Day
ceremonies, which were held in the shadow of anti-Israeli
incitement, calls are being issued to cancel them entirely.
This year more than ever public figures shed crocodile tears,
allowing people like UN General Assembly President Rev.
Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann of Nicaragua to demonize today's
Jews.
Many Chinuch Atzmai and Maayan Hachinuch HaTorani schools
were astonished to receive notices from local authorities
saying that water and electricity accounts would be
terminated and that they would receive only 75 percent of the
funding amounts allocated for other schools.
Peace in the Middle East — or Stability by Mordecai Plaut
It may be surprising to anyone brought up in the West, but
the notion of "peace" does not have the resonance of a
universally desirable goal in large parts of the world. In
particular the Arab nations lack it entirely.
