Bein Hazmanim Booklet to Keep Children Productively Occupied

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

A new booklet offers Avos Ubonim and Bnos Beis Yaakov-Batya participants a challenging and fascinating project that brings the family together to study material covering both halacha and Jewish values.

The initiative was put together through a joint Bnos Beis Yaakov-Batya and Anachnu Vetze'ezta'einu effort designed to fill the vacuum created by the summer break.

Bnos Beis Yaakov-Batya Director Rav Yeshaya Lieberman said following this year's great success with the Ohr Ganuz campaign, the organization decided to lead this large educational campaign, which brings the entire family together to learn halacha and internalize it. He said one of the organization's goals is to fill leisure time with worthwhile endeavors.

The organization printed 100,000 copies of the booklet to be distributed at Avos Ubonim branches and the 70 Bnos Beis Yaakov-Batya branches around the country. It covers halachic material on brochos, bein odom lechavero and kibbud av ve'em, all of which are frequently encountered during bein hazmanim. Divided into daily study tasks, it includes halacha, Mussar, stories about gedolei Yisroel and a questions section, as well as crossword puzzles and other fun activities. Children who study from the booklet can take part in a quiz with prizes by calling a tele- message center with separate lines for boys and girls and separate prize lists.

Children who answer the questions earn points that entitle them to participate in a drawing. There will also be drawings for a family trip to kivrei tzaddikim and thousands of valuable prizes provided by Osem.

Rav Eliezer Yudkovsky, director of Anachnu Vetze'ezta'einu, said the educational and challenging experience the booklet offers provides meaningful material for both boys and girls, along with the rest of the family, and bringing the family together to study halacha is invaluable and helps incorporate the material in the family's home life.
