With the help of Israeli ZAKA personnel, Israel Police's
Department for Criminal Identification managed to identify
the bodies of the Israelis killed in a plane crash in
Namibia.
The police and ZAKA identification teams flew to the crash
site to identify the bodies of the five Israeli who perished
in the accident last weekend. The work took several days.
Before leaving Israel members of the special police unit
gathered dental x-rays and fingerprint and DNA samples at the
victims' homes.
Two ZAKA teams worked at the site. One gathered remnants of
the bodies and other findings from the crash site and the
stretch of land where the lightweight plane skidded before
coming to a stop, and the other team assisted in the
identification process.
The five victims were part of a management team sent to set
up and operate three new diamond production sites in South
Africa. They were diamond traders working for Shlomo
Zilberberg, who was also killed in the tragic accident.
