Annual Mifal Hashas Meeting in Bnei Brak
By A. Cohen
At its annual presidential board meeting headed by gedolei
Yisroel at the home of HaRav Nissim Karelitz in Bnei
Brak, Mifal HaShas renewed its commitment to foster Torah
study among ameilei Torah.
Following an hour of lively discussions on the various study
programs, it was decided that the Thirty Daf a Month program
would continue next year with the study of Bovo Kammo,
followed by Bovo Metzia. The Twenty Daf a Month
Program would study Sanhedrin, Maccos, Shavuos and
Avodoh Zorah. The Horo'oh-Shas Veposkim Program would
continue studying Choshen Mishpot from Siman 34
through Siman 66. And the Orach Chaim Veyoreh
Deah Program would continue studying Cheilek Gimmel
until the end of Adar Beis and then in Nisan would start
over at the beginning of Siman Alef.
HaRav Karelitz raised a proposal to introduce a new program
for the study of Hilchos Shevi'is. The Admor of Tzanz
backed the idea, saying, "The number of shomrei
Shmittah is rising bli ayin hora and one must have
solid, detailed knowledge of Hilchos Shevi'is, with
all its strictures, studying them thoroughly."
Other members of the presidential board upheld the proposal,
issuing a decision to start a program for the study of
Mishnayos Shevi'is with the Rash's commentary and the
halochos enumerated in the Mishneh Torah.
