Finance Ministry Rescinds Objections to Gaydamak's
Acquisition of Bikur Cholim
By M. Green
The Finance Ministry rescinded its objection to Arkadi
Gaydamak's offer to acquire Bikur Hospital in Jerusalem after
he improved his original offer. The basic sum for the deal is
still $32 million, but Gaydamak agreed to add $3 million
instead of $2 million if all of the restrictions on the
donated land are removed.
Gaydamak also agreed to reduce by several million shekels the
amount he asked to receive if the restrictions on the main
hospital buildings are not removed.
Another obstacle to the deal is expected to be removed
shortly now that Gaydamak has agreed to the Health Ministry's
demand and officially announced the list of people named to
the executive board. Gaydamak also promised the Health
Ministry he would operate vital technological services, such
as CT scanning and x-ray photography, as well as a blood
bank, laboratories and more.
