Kosel Back to Normal Following Threat of Rioting

By Betzalel Kahn

The Western Wall Plaza has now returned to normal after two weeks of heavy police presence due to renovation work on the Mughrabi ramp.

The construction work on the ramp continues, with dozens of Antiquities Authority workers taking down the mound of earth manually in order to check for valuable relics from the past. According to estimates the project will continue for the next seven months until the level of the Mughrabi ramp reaches the level of the Western Wall Plaza.

Recently the Jewish Quarter Development Company and the Western Wall Heritage Foundation completed plans for the new bridge in order to discuss them in detail.

The number of visitors during the tensions of the past several weeks remained undiminished, but private vehicles were denied entry and large police forces were on hand to quell outbreaks of rioting choliloh. After several days of quiet the police decided to reinstate the routine security arrangements.
