A central memorial gathering and siyum haShas to mark
the fifth yahrtzeit of Maran HaRav Shach zt"l
was held on Motzei Shabbos at the main shul in Bnei
Brak's Nachalas Moshe neighborhood.
Hundreds of bnei Torah took part in the study of
gemora and mishnayos over the past year as an
illui neshomoh for Rabbenu Hagodol.
Speakers at the event included HaRav Meir Tzvi Bergman, HaRav
Shach's son-in-law and the rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Rashbi;
HaRav Sholom Ben Tzion Pellman, moro de'asra of
Nachalas Moshe; HaRav Avrohom Genichovsky, one of the roshei
yeshiva of Yeshivas Tchebin; and HaRav Dovid Cohen, rosh
yeshiva of Yeshivas Chevron.
Last week dozens of other siyum events were held
throughout Eretz Yisroel and the Diaspora with the
encouragement of gedolei Yisroel led by Maran HaRav
Eliashiv and based on HaRav Shach's famous will asking his
talmidim to learn "even a single mishnah or a
single mussar thought" as an illui neshomoh for
him.
