The North Korean Threat to World Peace
North Korea is a reminder of what much of the world was once
like. Extensive information about conditions there is hard to
come by, but it manages to feed itself only because of the
charity of the rest of the world. It is a hungry nation of
about 23 million people.
The Achilles Heel of the Yetzer Hora
by Rabbi Zvi Miller
We find a curious pattern in the Torah: Hashem first promises
victory to Klal Yisroel and then cautions them not to
panic. For instance he assures us (Devorim 20:2):
""When you go out to war against your enemy and you see horse
and chariot, a great multitude of people who outnumber you,
do not fear them because Hashem, your G-d, is with you
— Who brought you up from the land of Egypt."
In Which Yeshiva Were the Present-Day Sedorim-Schedules
First Instituted?
by Chaim Arbeli
In what year was Avrohom Ovinu circumcised? (2047) In what
year was Yeshivas Stutchin, a branch of Knesses Yisroel,
established? (5669) From whom did Chavakuk, the prophet who
was the transmitter of the Torah in his generation, receive
Torah and to whom did he pass it on?
They Travel to Eat `Teg'
by D. Tzfatman
The new zman is about to begin for yeshiva students
— for everyone, for that matter. It is a moment of
leave- taking from home. For some, for those who are first
leaving behind their warm home, the transition to yeshiva is
to leave behind their childhood as they go forth to "exile
themselves to a place of Torah" in their respective
dormitories.
Big Bang
To the Editor:
"Finding Hashem in Nature - Losing Hashem in Science" (14
Tishrei) referred to the "heretical evidence" of the Big
Bang." Indeed, the Big Bang theory cannot be squared with the
Bereishis account.
