Dozens of shiur members took part in a siyum of
maseches Yuma held in the bomb shelter of a beis
knesses in Natzeret Illit as Katyushas landed in the
city.
Founded by Meoros HaDaf HaYomi at the beginning of
maseches Pesochim in Teves this year, the shiur
grew from day to day. In light of its success another Daf
Yomi shiur was started, drawing dozens of
participants.
The siyum was scheduled to take place at a large
events hall but the venue had to be changed based on a
Homefront Command order forbidding large gatherings in the
North.
Pleasantly surprised by the large turnout, the organizers had
to remove all the tables from the bomb shelter to make room
for the 90 people who came to take part. After the maggid
shiur HaRav Eliyahu Maman recited Hadran, the
moro de'asra, HaRav Yeshayohu Herzl, praised the
participants for their uncompromising hasmodoh and
prayed that tranquility would be restored in the area to
allow the expansion of the corps of lomdei Torah.
Representatives of other kehillos in the city who came
to take part in the event were astonished at the sight of
dozens of lomdim sitting in the bomb shelter as the
sirens blasted outside.
At the end of the event, the participants made a commitment
to add the book Shemiras Haloshon to their study of
gemora and halochoh as a zchus for Klal
Yisroel.
The participants returned home bearing special mementos for
their wives: a copy of the Shabbos candlelighting blessing
written on parchment with a letter of thanks to the noshim
tzidkonios for sending their husbands from the household
bomb shelter to the community bomb shelter for the Daf Yomi
shiur.
