City of Jerusalem Invests in Development of Geula Area
by Betzalel Kahn
The City of Jerusalem, through municipal companies Eden and
Moriah, has begun an extensive project to develop and upgrade
the infrastructures in the Kerem Avraham neighborhood and the
Geula area. The city invested much time and effort into
planning the project, which now enters the execution
stage.
In the initial phase construction work will take place on
three streets—Ovadia, Amos and Nachum. The streets will
be repaved, new sidewalks will be laid, a park will be built,
the water, sewage, drainage and street-lighting systems will
be improved and new, underground phone lines will be
installed.
The city will also improve the area's general look by adding
landscaping with new irrigation systems, installing benches,
repairing fences and posting street signs.
Once complete the 15-month project promises to improve the
quality of life in the neighborhood and make it safer for
children and other residents.
