Tax Consultants will No Longer Need Bagrut

by Eliezer Rauchberger

According to a new law the Knesset plenum passed on Monday in second and third readings, tax consultants will no longer need a college degree or a Bagrut certificate on condition they have completed 12 years of study at any institution and they pass the exams administered by the Council of Tax Consultants.

The goal of the law tabled by Rabbi Moshe Gafni is to make it easier for chareidi seminary graduates to work as tax consultants even if they were not enrolled in a study track leading to Bagrut exams or did not complete their Bagrut exams, but nonetheless meet other conditions the law requires in order to work as a tax consultant.
