Gathering to Mark Opening of Lakewood Yeshiva Ketanoh in Jerusalem in Elul

By Betzalel Kahn

A special gathering was held in the home of Maran HaRav Eliashiv shlita to mark the opening of Lakewood Yeshiva Ketanoh at its new building in Jerusalem's Ramot neighborhood.

In attendance at the gathering were HaRav Yaakov Eliezer Schwartzman, the rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Lakewood, ramim HaRav Moshe Halevy Feldman and HaRav Menachem Neiman and the mashgiach HaRav Yehuda Paniel, along with HaRav Eliashiv's assistant, HaRav Yosef Efrati, HaRav Berachyohu Shenker, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Tiferes HaTalmud and other talmidei chachomim and yeshiva members.

HaRav Eliashiv replied warmly to HaRav Schwartzman's questions, explaining the proper way to build a suitable environment for the growth of the young yeshiva students aspiring to become gedolei Torah. Maran stressed the importance of being immersed in "Hameini'ach" and "Shor shenogach" and said that the students should be made aware of the importance of studying halochoh and of course constant strengthening of yiras Shomayim and middos tovos, "for otherwise nothing gets started." He concluded by blessing the visitors for success in making their students into gedolei Torah and to see nachas and brochoh and hatzlochoh from them.

The yeshiva, which also enjoys the blessings and encouragement of HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman and HaRav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz, is scheduled to open in Elul. The outstanding students there, who hail from Eretz Yisroel, benefit from a staff of top ramim and an atmosphere of joy and delight in Torah.
