Shearis Yisroel Pesach Guide Available

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

Shearis Yisroel has issued the 5766 edition of Glatt, a Pesach guide that covers a variety of issues related to halochoh, kashrus and communal affairs.

The guide opens with a long article on the kashrus organization since its founding by HaRav Chaim Shaul Karelitz at the behest of Maran HaRav Shach zt"l, tracing its operations to the present day under Maran HaRav Eliashiv shlita.

The first section provides halochoh, aggodoh and mussar by gedolei Yisroel zt"l vylct"a specially compiled for this year's edition of Glatt, followed by halachic rulings by members of the Shearis Yisroel beis din on various practical matters related to kashrus.

Another section deals with mechiras chometz, including explanations of the special shtar mechiroh to be signed by Jewish sellers prepared according to HaRav Eliashiv's instructions and the shtar mechiroh for the non-Jewish buyers prepared by the Shearis beis din.

Another section provides detailed halochos for Pesach and a list of Shearis Yisroel morei horo'oh and rabbonim handling mechiras chometz. It also contains various halachic times, such as the latest time for eating and burning chometz and halachic midnight in cities throughout Eretz Yisroel and several foreign countries.

The kashrus guide includes a list of manufacturers and products under Shearis Yisroel supervision, along with a survey of the factories under its supervision and the special practices they adhere to. This year's edition also has a collection of kashrus instructions that provides a representative sample of the instructions given to the factories.

At the end of the guide is an updated list of medications that are kosher for Pesach, along with several other sections and articles related to practical halochoh.

Glatt is available at Bircat Ha'aretz and other selected stores throughout Israel and at the Shearis Yisroel offices.
