Alligators Put on Chicken-Free Diet

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

The outbreak of the deadly avian flu virus in Israel is having an impact not only on poultry farmers, sellers and consumers, but has even led to dietary changes for the alligators at Chamat Gader, which are no longer being allowed to consume chicken according to an Agence France-Presse report.

The alligator farm at Chamat Gader is home to 200 reptiles, which will have to make do with beef and fish, at least in the immediate future.

The alligators do not like cooked food and the strict warnings the Health Ministry issued against the consumption of uncooked poultry due to the outbreak of bird flu extend to alligators as well.
