Talmud Torah Yemin Hashem Romema won this year's road safety
award given by the Education Minister and Transportation
Minister. The talmud Torah won the award for the
teaching staff's efforts to inculcate the students with the
importance of safety based on a chareidi perspective,
providing Jewish sources on the issue of safety.
This is the second time in a row that an institution from the
Jerusalem Municipality's Department for Chareidi Education
has won the prize, after last year's award went to Talmud
Torah Succat David. Deputy Mayor in charge of chareidi
education Rabbi Uri Maklev says that the unique safety
education programs aimed at the chareidi sector and arranged
by the Education Ministry allows students to acquire a strong
awareness of this important issue.
The Jerusalem Municipality's Safety Bureau recommended Talmud
Torah Yemin Hashem Romema after it was chosen for excellence
from among all of the city's schools. The bureau is
responsible for operating the road safety programs at
Jerusalem's educational institutions and also holds an annual
competition. The judges' panel goes from school to school and
selects outstanding institutions that receive a prize from
the Mayor and advance to the final round.
The Mayor participated in this week's awards ceremony.
