At the end of the Shivoh for HaRav Moshe Shmuel Shapira
zt"l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Be'er Yaakov, thousands
of talmidim and yeshiva alumni gathered to hear
hespeidim. The Shas was divided among the
talmidim to be learned during the year of mourning as
an illui neshomoh.
Chartered buses were arranged to bring alumni from Jerusalem,
Bnei Brak and Modi'in Illit. Giant screens were erected in
the plaza outside the yeshiva and the event was broadcast
live on Kol Haloshon.
During the event seforim written by the Rosh Yeshiva
and cassettes from the various hespeidim given during
the course of the week were available for purchase.
Eulogy gatherings were held around the country, including an
event at Yeshivas Tiferes HaTalmud in Jerusalem's Givat Shaul
neighborhood and another event at Yeshivas Chochmoh Vodaas in
Rechovot.
Meanwhile at Yeshivas Radin in Netanya eulogies were given
for HaRav Moshe Halberstam zt"l, who was closely
associated with the yeshiva since its founding and served as
a member of the nesi'us.
Hespeidim on HaRav Halberstam were delivered by HaRav
Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz, the Rosh Yeshiva HaRav Menachem Don
Maizels, who did shimush under HaRav Halberstam for
three years and included hundreds of his rulings in the book
Pischei Megodim, and the deceased's son-in-law, HaRav
Mattisyohu Deutsch, a rov in Jerusalem's Ramat Shlomo
neighborhood.
