Torah Min HaShomayim: Messages from Hashem to Man
In preparation for the parsha of matan Torah
in Yisro.
The Rambam takes almost 2,000 Hebrew words to discuss the 13
Yesodos of our Religion. Only two of those words are
"emes," and only one instance is applied to the Torah
as the last of a list of attributes: Vehakol Toras Hashem
temimoh, tehoroh, ukedoshoh, emes — it is all the
Torah of Hashem that is perfect, pure, holy and true.
A Letter About Torah Chinuch
By HaRav Mordechai Gifter zt'l — 23 Teves 5766, His
Fifth Yahrtzeit
HaRav Gifter zt'l, was always an articulate and forceful
spokesman for authentic Torah hashkofoh. Whether
writing an essay or a letter, delivering a talk in the
yeshiva, or an address at an Agudah convention, he always
conveyed a pure Torah outlook on contemporary issues and
affairs in the Jewish world, with sharpness and
clarity.
The Right Mitzvah at the Right Time
by HaRav Chaim Pinchas Scheinberg
We all do mitzvos, but the wise-hearted earn them. In
reference to Moshe Rabbenu the Midrash Rabba cites the
posuk (Mishlei 10:8), "The wise-hearted [person]
acquires mitzvos" (Parshas Beshalach 20:19).
A Song of Shabbos: Singing Tefillas Shacharis of
Shabbos
by Rabbi Daniel Yaakov Travis
Permission to Sing
David was a simple Jew, neither learned in Torah, nor
particularly meticulous in mitzvos. In fact, he really had
only one major merit: he was the chazon on Shabbos.
Every week, he would lead the Shabbos prayers, bringing the
members of the community to tears with his beautiful
voice.
Politica: Labor's Plan to Thwart Kadima
By E. Rauchberger
The Labor Party is irate at its three top-ranking members who
left the party for Kadima: Shimon Peres, Chaim Ramon and
Dahlia Itzik. All three were die-hard Laborites and ministers
representing the party; one of them even served as party
chairman for many years and as prime minister on two
occasions.
