Egged Reports 3,000 Buses to Kosel During Pesach

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

Based on preliminary summaries of bus service on Erev Pesach and Chol Hamoed, Egged operated thousands of buses. Jerusalem was the most popular destination for interurban travel and on the company's urban lines the Kosel Hama'arovi was the most popular destination, posting a record number of riders.

An average of 250 bus departures per day were recorded on line 402 between Bnei Brak and Yerushalayim. On the lines to the Kosel, including special routes, nearly 3,000 departures took place. Bus service from the Kosel peaked on Monday evening of Chol Hamoed, with buses departing every 5-10 minutes until 1:00 am.

Egged Spokesman Ron Ratner noted the preference for public transportation and cooperation with the Transportation Ministry, the police and the municipality contributed greatly to the efficiency of the bus service provided.
