In a modest but moving event on Rosh Chodesh Kislev, we
celebrated the opening of our Kollel Le'Avreichim Metsuyonim
— Binyan Tsion, which is located in the Beth Medrash
Tiferes Bochurim in Meah Shearim, the beth medrash of
Maran Posek Hador HaRav Yosef Sholom Eliashiv
shlita.
The affair was held in the home of Maran shlita, in
the presence of gedolei Torah and the roshei
and chavrei hakollel.
The Kollel includes about twenty excellent avreichim
and the derech of learning is le'asukei
shemaiteso aliboh dehilcheso, to follow learning through
to the halochoh. It is under the auspices of the son of Maran
shlita, HaRav Binyomin, author of Yad
Binyomin.
Maran wished the roshei and chavrei kollel much
brochoh vehatzlochoh in all areas.
A special brochoh was given to the philanthropist,
Rabbi Yonoson Hacohen Strasser and his family, the supporter
of the Kollel, at a visit to Maran's home recently.
It must be noted that the Beth Medrash Tiferes Bochurim,
which is known throughout the world, was founded about 80
years ago by the father of Maran, shlita, HaRav
Avrohom Eliashiv, zt"l, the rov of Hummle, with the
blessings of his father-in-law, gaon in Kabboloh,
HaRav Shlomo Eliashiv ztvk"l author of the
Leshem Shevo Ve'achlomoh. HaRav Y. S. Eliashiv has
been delivering shiurim there for over 60 years.
It also must be noted that the new Kollel already has an
excellent reputation and many young men are waiting to be
accepted. This is unfortunately impossible.
We can only hope that in due course we'll be able to expand
our Kollel to spread and enhance Torah-learning. A morning
Kollel was also established a year ago for excellent
avreichim, which is already famous in its own
right.
