French Doctors Still Investigating Whether Arafat Was Poisoned

by Arnon Yaffe, Paris

French authorities are still looking into claims by Arafat's close associates that the late PA chairman was poisoned to death. According to the Sunday Times, Berlin sent French doctors at Percy Hospital the medical file of terrorist Vadi Hadad, a Palestinian plane hijacker who was poisoned to death 26 years ago after exhibiting the same symptoms that Arafat showed before his death. The Palestinians claim Hadad was poisoned by Israeli agents.

Arafat's cause of death has not been publicized despite Israeli pressure. French officials further exasperated Jews and Israelis by falsifying information on Arafat's death certificate, recording Jerusalem as his place of birth rather than Cairo, an indication that French policy remains enslaved to Arab propaganda. Even Israeli ambassador Nissim Zevili, who is trying to maintain appearances of normal relations with France, lost his temper and accused France of the fabrication.

Relations between Israel and France further deteriorated following rumors emanating from the military hospital in Percy that Arafat had been poisoned and the government's decision to permit Hizbullah to broadcast antisemitic propaganda on a French station, despite the fact that Hizbullah is a terrorist organization that preaches the destruction of Israel.

French authorities show no desire to help pacify the Territories or the new Palestinian rule. CRIF Chairman Roger Cukierman indicted the government and President Jacques Chirac for capitulating to terrorist extortion.
