threats to mankind. For years, LDL cholesterol levels were
the measuring stick for cardiovascular risk. However, studies
have indicated that elevated C-Reactive Protein (CRP) levels,
which measure inflammation, may be a better indicator of
one's risk for heart attack and stroke.
Tough questions from our usual correspondent: Are childhood
cancers related to pollution? The answer is they could be,
but more likely is that pollution causes only breathing
difficulties such as asthma and allergies.
