Shikun Ovdim, Inc. announced it intends to open the large new mall in Givatayim on Shabbosim. Mayor Effi Shtentzler voiced strong opposition, warning he will petition the court for a closure order if the mall opens its doors on Shabbos.

The Summer Clock (Daylight Savings Time) begins Thursday night at 2:00 am when clocks get set forward ("Sprint forward") one hour. Daylight Savings Time will end on Motzei Shabbos Shuvoh at 2:00 am when clocks get set one hour earlier ("Fall back").


Over 1,000 at Ovos Uvonim Melave Malka

Over 700 young boys plus an estimated 300 rabbonim, fathers and helpers attended the Grand Ovos Uvonim Melave Malka at the Hasmonean Girls School hall motzei Shabbos parshas Vayikra. It was the closing event of the winter program that operates from 22 centers in North West London involving over 800 boys and their fathers.


Housing Ministry to Increase Mechir Lemishtaken Apartment Sales

The Ministry of Construction and Housing is increasing its apartment sales program known as "Mechir Lemishtaken." In 2004 a total of 604 apartments were sold under this program and in 2005 the numbers are expected to reach 2,000 apartments.

Observations: Israeli Technological Innovations

A virtual keyboard was developed by an Israeli company called VKB in May 2000, just before the global high-tech bust. The device casts an image of a keyboard onto any available surface, and using various sensors it detects where the user presses, coordinating the presses with the image. As the user drums his fingers, letters are transferred to his computer.

In the not so long past, I was actually left somewhat speechless. I had innocently asked an acquaintance to which seminary she was thinking of sending her daughter. The subject is quite intriguing to me, as my oldest daughter is already in grade six. It's not yet too threatening, but soon it will become an issue for me to deal with.
