HaRav Moshe Shmuel Shapira shlita returned home Monday
night after a two-and-a-half-week stay in the US for urgent
medical care as the Torah world prayed and followed his
condition with concern.
At the beginning of last week HaRav Shapira underwent
surgery, and his doctors decided he could return to Eretz
Yisroel for follow-up treatment. Rabbi Yochonon Chayut, the
coordinator of El Al's religious services, provided
assistance during HaRav Shapira's stay abroad and was waiting
near the plane upon landing, along with MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni
and Bnei Brak Deputy Mayor Rabbi Avrohom Rubinstein.
Upon arriving home the Rosh Yeshiva spoke briefly to the
yeshiva students enthusiastically waiting to greet him.
Based on instructions by gedolei Yisroel including
Maran HaRav Eliashiv shlita the recitation of
Tehillim will continue throughout the recovery period
for R' Moshe Shmuel ben Minoh Golda, be'ezras Hashem,
at Torah halls, yeshivas, chadorim and girls'
schools.
While in London HaRav Shapira was hosted by R' Yitzchok
Heitner and London medical activist Rav Eliyohu Krankraut
assisted with all medical affairs.
