Egged Hiring Drivers for Mehadrin Lines

For the first time ever, Egged placed ads to encourage Jerusalem's chareidi residents to join company-sponsored training courses in preparation for jobs as drivers on the mehadrin lines. Suitable candidates who hold regular drivers' licenses and meet Transportation Ministry qualifications will participate in a six-month course at the Egged School of Driving, including both theory and hands-on instruction.

Egged's Advisory Council on Chareidi Transportation Matters praised the initiative. "Without a doubt placing drivers who keep Torah and mitzvas on the special lines will contribute to dialogue and understanding of the needs of the chareidi passenger," says Rabbi Shlomo Rosenstein.

The driver training program is being sponsored in cooperation with the Joint Distribution Fund.
