HaRav Moshe Mordechai Karp Inaugurated as Rov in Modi'in
Illit
By A. Cohen
HaRav Moshe Mordechai Karp was inaugurated as rov of the
original northern section of Kiryat Sefer — Giva
Hatzfonit. HaRav Karp already serves as av beis din
of the Parisian kehilloh headed by HaRav M. Rotenberg,
as a moreh tzedek in Elad and as the rosh kollel
of Kollel Beis Sholom, Kollel Lemaan Achai and Kollel
Hashutafin, regularly delivering shiurim at each of
them. He is also well-known as the author of the Hilchos
Chag Bechag series and Mishmeres Hatohoroh.
The writ of appointment, read aloud by the moro de'asra
of Modi'in Illit HaRav Meir Kessler, read, "The Rov
shlita has the merit of teaching Torah and instructing
numerous talmidim. He was a close disciple of the
gedolei Torah of previous generations, zechuson
yogen oleinu, and of our own generation. Today he is a
close disciple of Ateres Rosheinu Maran HaRav Eliashiv
shlita — al piv yishak kol devor Hashem-zu
halochoh — and he has already gained renown as a
godol in Torah and yir'oh, and numerous people
come to him seeking advice."
At the inauguration, HaRav Karp received a rabbinical writ
signed by gedolei Yisroel including Maran HaRav
Eliashiv, HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman, HaRav Michel Yehuda
Lefkowitz, HaRav Nissim Karelitz, HaRav Chaim Kanievsky and
HaRav Shmuel Auerbach. Other signatories included HaRav
Mordechai Gross, av beis din of Chanichei Hayeshivos in
Bnei Brak and a member of the Shearis Yisroel beis din,
HaRav Yosef Efrati, HaRav Meir Kessler and HaRav Yisroel
Zicherman, the moro de'asra of the nearby neighborhood
Achuzat Brachfeld.
"In addition to his tremendous command of Shas and
poskim," reads the writ of appointment, HaRav Karp
"heads the city's important chessed organization
Vehechzakto Bo which feeds hundreds of local residents
during the week and on Shabbos Kodesh, all in a discreet
manner and without distinctions between different segments of
the city's population. Every year the Rov shlita
distributes Kimcho DePischo to thousands of families in the
city and we have a great zchus to have a rov like
HaRav Moshe Mordechai shlita."
HaRav Karp thanked the Moro De'asra and Council Head Rabbi
Yaakov Gutterman as well as all of the askonim working
to expand the bounds of kedushoh in the city.
