HaRav Pesach Moshe Goldberg, zt"l, Killed in Car Accident While Driving to Son's Bar Mitzvah in Catskills

By S. Bruchi

Thousands of New York residents, particularly Bobov Chassidim, attended Monday's levaya for HaRav Pesach Moshe Tzvi Goldberg, z"l, who was killed Sunday evening 18 Tammuz in a fatal car accident on his way to his son's bar mitzvah.

Rav Goldberg, a ram at Yeshivas Bobov and a member of the teaching staff at the yeshiva's Camp Shalva, was killed while driving to the Catskill Mountains for his son's bar mitzvah. The parents set out from New York and when they arrived at the main interchange on Route 42 they collided head-on with a car swerving to avoid a cyclist. Rav Goldberg was killed instantly while his wife was evacuated by helicopter in critical condition after receiving treatment by Hatzoloh paramedics. The children, including the chosson bar mitzvah, were hospitalized in good to moderate condition.

Another fatal accident involving chareidi New York residents took place on the way to the Catskills just one week earlier. Rabbonim and morei horo'oh are calling on the public to mischazeik in avodas Hashem in light of these tragedies.

The levaya could not take place until Monday afternoon due to tests the police performed as part of their investigation of the accident. Yeshivas Bobov talmidim arrived en masse to take part in the levaya of one of the heads of the yeshiva staff.

The public is being asked to arouse Heavenly Mercy for the recuperation of Mrs. Chayoh Toibe bas Soroh Rivkoh, who is in need of great Rachamei Shomayim.
