Increased Departures on Egged's Jerusalem-Bnei Brak Line

By Betzalel Kahn

With the opening of the wedding season after Shavuos in Israel, demand for bus lines between Jerusalem and Bnei Brak has increased sharply. In response, Egged significantly boosted the frequency of Lines 400 and 402 between Jerusalem and Bnei Brak in both directions.

According to Egged officials, based on surveys conducted by inspectors along the pickup route of Line 402 to assess the level of demand at bus stations, many new departures have been added. On Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 until the final departure, buses depart every six minutes on average. Similarly on Erev Shabbos buses on Line 402 depart every 3-4 minutes and every 3 minutes on Motzei Shabbos starting at 10:00 p.m.

Egged reports that on Erev Shavuos and Motzei Shavuos very heavy demand was posted for Line 402 in both directions and on all of the interurban lines leading to Jerusalem and Bnei Brak. A total of 291 buses destined for chareidi population centers around the country departed from the Jerusalem area and a similar number from Bnei Brak.
