Jerusalem Mayor Rabbi Uri Lupoliansky recently promised Har
Nof residents he would help them build a new park in the
neighborhood.
A local association called Shomra--Lesviva Tova founded by
Har Nof residents, the community administration, the City and
the Jewish National Fund have completed plans for a large
park on the slopes of the neighborhood. The residents invited
the Mayor to tour the site after a private entrepreneur
sought to construct high-rise apartment buildings, commercial
space and a parking lot on the land.
During the tour the Mayor met with neighborhood
representatives and the Environmental Committee. When
committee representatives presented the Mayor with the plans
for the new park he was very impressed and promised to help
promote it. The Mayor said he believes the park will improve
the neighborhood's appearance and contribute to the city's
beauty.
He praised the Environmental Committee's work in Har Nof
saying that upon taking office he made a firm pledge to
environmental improvement in the city through the
Yerushalayim Berosh Naki project.
