Israel Police plans to issue an indictment against a hired
security guard who used an electric shocker and excessive
force against chareidi protesters on the Trans-Israel
Highway, Northern District Police Commander Dan Ronen told
Deputy Transportation Minister Rabbi Shmuel Halpert.
During the demonstrations on the Trans-Israel Highway near
Kibbutz Regavim two months ago to protest the excavations of
graves a number of avreichim were beaten by security
guards from a private company hired by Chotza Yisrael, the
company commissioned to lay Highway 6.
The security guards did not balk from the use of any means to
"defend" continuing the excavations, including forms of
violence prohibited by law.
Chareidi MKs contacted Commander Ronen, asking him to press
charges against the security worker. During an extensive
discussion in the Knesset Interior Committee police officials
said the security guard would be arrested and tried.
Following a concerted investigation the security guard
responsible for the extreme conduct was located and under
questioning admitted using an electric shocker, which is
prohibited by law. Based on his admission Hadera Police
decided to issue an indictment against him.
As a result of the incident Deputy Minister Halpert directed
Chutza Yisrael to discontinue using the services of the
security company that employed the guard responsible for
attacking the chareidi protesters.
