Writing Exercise
by Rifca Goldberg

Alright, all you avid readers, how about giving writing a try? Here's a writing outlet that's pretty wild and crazy. Find a quiet time and place. You can either do a variety of these with separate abstractions or thematic (last example is thematic). Good luck and we look forward to reading yours soon!

Three lines to creativity

1st line: an abstraction, a verb, and a place

2nd line: an attire

3rd line: a place

(I'm actually pretty good at NOT following the rules. You can cheat a bit here and there and that'll be just fine! Enjoy!)

Examples:

By Shana Gamedze: Melting sensitivities Within the tight- belted valleys Mirroring what lies outside my window Hovering, then plunging in and out Of what once seemed a solid identity

By Rifca Goldberg: 1) Her personality Garbed in scanty rags Soaked in the deep red Of her bleeding heart 2) Dignity demands the theater of life She holds her golden chin high As she bursts through prejudices.

By Yehudit Goldfarb: Solitude sits in the dark corner With her head covered in a thick curtain And sulks about the misbehavior of humanity Thematic

By Rifca Goldberg: Modesty... covered within her home Her long skirt Rustling past her children with dignity and love Modesty... humble in the streets Her simple walk Concealing her indelible beauty Modesty... speaking gentle, thought-out words Feeling G-d's Presence wherever she goes Long sleeves — over arms spread high in supplication

Modesty... expressing the preciousness of the Jewish woman.
