Portable Cell Phone Charger Developed

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

A unique solution has been developed to charge batteries without an electrical outlet: a portable cell-phone charger powered by a single AA battery and compatible with most cell phones in use in Israel.

The patented product, called Energize 'n Go, is the first of its kind in the world. Developed in Israel the charger was launched by E. Gil Carmel, distributor of Energizer batteries and flashlights, which has entered the cellular field for the first time. To develop the product and make it compatible with products on the market involved an investment of one year and $300,000.

Gil Yisraeli, director of E. Gil, said the technology for the internationally registered patent is based on a smart chip and an electronic device developed by Israeli companies Tektium and Sayif. The chip identifies the energy source inserted into the device and is able to convert the charge based on the demands of the type of phone being charged. The uniqueness of the charger lies in its compatibility with the majority of cellular devices available in Israel.

The portable charger allows 140 minutes or more of air time and the charging time is up to 140 minutes using the Energizer battery supplied. The charger is sold in a package that includes a choice of different connectors according to the type of cell phone you use. The connector can also be purchased separately.
