According to the government's decisions and as tabled at the
Knesset, the responsibilities and realms of activity handled
by the Ministry of Religious Affairs will be divided among
the various other ministries as follows:
1. The Rabbinate Beis Din system, including the
special conversion courts, will be transferred to the Justice
Ministry.
2. Christian religious courts will be transferred to the
Justice Ministry.
3. The Department of Non-Jewish Communities will be
transferred to the Interior Ministry.
4. The Department for the Development of Religious Buildings
will be transferred to the Housing Ministry.
5. The Yeshiva Division and the Guaranteed Income Division
will be transferred to the Ministry of Education, Culture and
Sport.
6. The Center for the Development of Holy Sites will be
transferred to the Ministry of Tourism.
7. The Department of Religious Councils will be transferred
to the Prime Minister's Office.
8. The programs for the study of Judaism will be transferred
from the Rabbinate Beit Din Administration to the Absorption
Ministry.
9. The Chief Rabbinate of Israel will be transferred to the
Prime Minister's Office.
The government also submitted to the Knesset a request to
transfer the authority that the Minister of Religious Affairs
had for various appointments and approvals, to the ministers
of the various government ministries, with dozens of laws and
hundreds of legal paragraphs.
